thanks for the reply. The OS is a retail version. If the person left it to me in their will, does it transfer to me? Perhaps I should ask MS. I've just asked MS, and they seemed to say that if this OS can be transfered. I just need to keep the EULA. And they don't think I'll have any activation issues either.
