product activation after reinstal
Every time (8, and counting) I have re-installed Vista, I had to activate it. Vista thinks it is brand new and has not been activated, yet.
Are you not able to activate Vista? If so, what error message are you receiving? Are you making sure to type the Product Key correctly (sometimes "B's" look like "8's" etc...)? Have you already used the same Product Key on ten different computers?

Did you start on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx
and go down to the Download Now section and put in your location to start the registration process so you could get a key?
If not, then this is how you get a Product Key for the Vista Ultimate installation and activation. The Vista package has all the versions of Vista, but the CPP key is only for Vista Ultimate. If you installed any other version then you will need to start over and use the key in the beginning.
The is no other way for the CPP version.
You don't get Product Keys from other people. You go through the registration process to download the image and you get your key that way. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview/register.mspx
